Hi there,

This is one of the strangest thing I've done lately. Getting acces to my account. Can you imagine that I couldn't even remember my my password so I had to recover that. I never understood it when I saw someone neglect there account. And here he is ..... yours truly, doing exact the same thing.

Anyhow, I don't know how much time (or maybe years???) went by before I finally logged in today. There are several reasons for not doing so. I will not point all of them out. But don't worry, it had nothing to do with health, the (wonderful) artists around here etc.

One of the reasons was ... well ... I had reached a point that I became insecure to display my artworks here. I can't explain it exactly, but it's just my feeling. That doesn't mean that I stopped creating art. I still create them, but I'm the only one who sees them. I also create the posters for my theatergroup. Very different compared to what you see here. But it feels good because you can recognize my style. They are 'Johnish' if you know what I mean.

Yesterday I received a message from an old friend from school who now lives in South Africa. He found me trough my art. Sounds a bit ironic when you read what I just wrote above, but I'm glad he contacted me. And it was something he said about my art that gave me that extra push to write this journal.

Michael, thank you.

All the best,
John

PS: she really don't need any introduction but I still like to point out Cindy's account. The girl is good so please show her some love.

Hi Deviants

Mmh, I was thinking if I'd should write this journal in English or in Dutch. Writing in English (as not being my native language) takes a little bit more time. Just a little bit seconds more haha. But I want to spare you those confusing Google translations so ..... you can read this in English

I've really been away from Deviantart for a while. After my last journal I wasn't in the mood to hang around here. So I didn't check my account.

So don't be mad at me. I see that I have to answer some messages. Pfff, considering my hands ... well, that's often a painfull task.

Oh and surprise surprise. Some carying Deviant wrote a message on my frontpage about one of my artworks. Thanks for the heads up

It seems that one of my artworks has been eeehh, ..... stolen (?), borrowed (?), leased (?).

johndelano.deviantart.com/art/…
abstract.desktopnexus.com/wall…

My head was spinning. What should I do? So I asked the the little cherub what his thoughts are about the whole steal/borrow/lease subject. Big mistake ofcourse. The cherub wasn't really in a talking mood. It was something like this

Me: hey little one
Cherub:
Me: ehm, ....
Cherub:
Me: :poke:
Cherub: ?
Me: :poke: :poke:
Cherub: Yes John
Me: OMG, it's alive :wow:

Me: Do you like your new place?
Cherub: What new place?
Me: Well, I ...
Cherub:
Me: I named you "A place to rest"
Cherub: So?
Me: And now someone has taken you to ehh, ehm, another place to rest.
Cherub: So?
Me: So?????
Cherub: :poke:
Me: Stop poking your wings in my eye.
Cherub: Or? :giggle:
Me: Or you'll find your wings sold on Ebay as a relic in a vintage frame.
Cherub: :faint:
Me: Yeah, now we're talking

Cherub: Oh my dearest John ...
Me: Please, flatter me some more
Cherub: It doesn't matter where I have my place to rest.
Me: ?
Cherub:
Me: ???
Me: ehm just for your info
Me: the copyright what was written on the egg has been removed.
Cherub: Meaning ..... ?
Me: Well, by removing the copyright, the eggshell has become thin.
Cherub: How thin?
Me: Very, very, very thin.
Cherub: Go on poetic Dutchie.
Me: Weeeelll, there is a very big risk that the egg will break. And unless you want to bath in some egg yolk, we seriously have consider how we're going to handle this.
Cherub: I'm listening
Me: That's my cherub.

Continued (if my hands and the cherub let me)

'Een teken van leven' we say here in The Netherlands. Translated that means 'A sign of life'. I didn't disapeared from earth, altough it seemed that way.

I'm not depressed, just a little sensitive. A few months ago a friend on Deviantart notified me about a so called blend site. My artworks were ofered there in zipfiles to create new artworks with. The site owner cloned my name and copyright out. Okay, okay, she called the challenge something like the 'John de Lano' blend challenge blah, blah, and that was it.

Normaly I wouldnt take any action. It sounds 'sick', but there are so many sites that offer my work in zipfiles as a download that I'm almost getting used to it ..... Yes, you've read it correctly. I said ... almost. That means that I can't always tolerate or be forever forgiving about those things. Spare me the talking about 'But this is the internet'.

To make a long story short; within a few hours she removed my artworks after I wrote 'something' in the shoutbox on her site. Case solved? Yes and no. Afterwards she wrote about the whole issue. And it was something in particular she said that I didn't like. After getting agry, something inside me just 'broke'. I can't explain it in proper English. But that's how it felt.

Since then my motivation to create art is very minimal. Now and then I'm trying to make some new things. But it doesn't has that 'John de Lano look' and feeling. In other words 'it doesn't look good'. But it will come back, I just have to give it some time.

Thank you for adding me to your watchlist. Because of my health (as some of you know) I'm just not in the position to say thank you personly. But that doesn't mean that I don't care, because I really do. But please don't expect me to reply on everything, I just can't. Special love to CindysArt who is a very, very special friend :glomp:

Happy New Year

Hi there :w00t:

I hardly have been here lately. Eh, sorry folks for not being around. Real life etc, you know the usual stuff. The notes and all are as always a struggle to get through. But I'll do my best. So don't get mad at me if I haven't answered you yet. My health is very precious to me and (as most of you already know) that often means that I just have to avoid typing. But don't worry, I'm doing fine at the moment. I want to thank everybody for adding me to their watchlist, for the comments, faving etc etc. It's very, very much appreciated.

And for the people who think that I stopped creating art. Well, I actually created something, but I stored 'Try' in my Scrapsection. She looks good, but she was born as 'homework', that's why she found a safe place in Scraps Try by JohndeLano

Christmas was nice. You know, family etc. And (for me very important) going to the church.

I just saw a music video on YouTube and someone  commented on it with:
- Bunch of stanky naggers!!!

While someone else said:
- Fucking gay ass niger music. Burn in hell.

These aren't my words or thougts, so don't feel offended. But in real life I hear (or sometimes see) that people think the same as the two comments I mentioned above. Mmh, ....

I wish you all a very good and healty 2009. With a lot of joy, happines and creativity. Be inspired in a positive way in everything you do! And please have some respect for each other. No matter what the color of your skin is, country of birth etc etc.

With love

John

Tools of the trade: a heart and a box of paints. If you look at her artworks, you'll know that she speaks the truth. 'She' is Kate, 17 years old, living in the UK and the artist behind hoppipoppi

I knew that I had to feature Kate from the moment I saw her art. Her works look like they could be commissions for a childerens book. Very basic and fragile. But at the same time powerful, down to earth and proffessional looking. In Dutch we'd say 'De kunst van het weglaten'. Don't use an online translator for that :poke: Only the Dutch people know exactly what I mean. Don't worry, it's very positive :rose:

The childeren that she pictures don't have a very detailed face. But that wont bother the viewer a bit because you don't mis it. I like the washed/worn out look and the muted colours. The overal look is in most cases blue/grayish with little hints of pink, green, red, brown and white.

She uses gouache, acrylics, pencils to create her art. In one of her artworks she even used some glitters. She's very original when it comes to using backgrounds. Her works are painted on MDF, old crinkly paper bags, tea stained watercolour paper etc etc.

They say that 'Seeing is believing'. It indeed is ..... :iconhoppipoppi:
